The City of Nelson has set a new $3,000 cannabis licensing fee to take care of costs once retail sales applications start coming in. The liquor license application fee is $2,000. As council opted to use a matrix system to score cannabis business applicants, Alex Thumm with development services says it requires a bit more work.
Thumm says applications will go through the Province first before they’re passed on to the City. The Province hasn’t started accepting them yet, but might be near the end of the summer.
Nelson’s retail cannabis sales zoning regulations still need to go to a public hearing before final adoption.
