Nelson Police investigate suspicious fire

A suspicious fire in Nelson on Wednesday. At 6:15pm, Fire and Rescue Services received a call about a campfire on the CPR lands at the end of Baker Street. Upon arrival three separate fires were observed that were spreading to the nearby trees. The fires were quickly knocked down and checked to ensure that there were no hot spots.

Some evidence was collected at the scene and Nelson Police are following up on leads, however the cause has still not been determined.

Eight fire fighters responded to the incident with one fire engine, one tender truck, and one utility vehicle.
