Wildsight raises concerns over Columbia River Treaty negotiations

Columbia River Treaty talks are being held in Nelson right now.  They started yesterday with the head negotiators, hydro companies and other officials taking part in the discussions. Lars Sander-Green with Wildsight wants to see Canada take a firm stance on bringing salmon back to the Columbia.

Sander-Green feels there should be more transparency from the province.

He says Wildsight also supports the three First Nations in the Columbia Basin who weren’t included at the negotiating table.

The first negotiations were held in Washington, DC in May and then next round will be in Portland in October.
