A number of events are coming up near Nakusp this week. Toad Fest runs Wednesday and Thursday in Summit Lake Provincial Park raising awareness about the Western Toad and the other species in the area. Laurie Frankcom with the Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society says they’re also looking for some volunteers to help remove invasive burdock from the park.
Frankcom says shovels and gloves are provided or you can bring your own. Both events run Wednesday from 4:00-7:00pm and on Thursday from 9:00am to noon.
Toad Fest organizers say they are monitoring the wildfire situation and should things worsen the event may be cancelled. Click here for any updates.
