Kootenay Pride kicks off Monday, August 27

Kootenay Pride kicks off in Nelson on Monday, August 27. One of the organizers, Stephanie Myers, invites everyone to the very first Pride flag raising at City Hall. “We’ve been putting the banner up across Baker Street for quite a few years so that’s happening Monday morning at 8:30. And then at 11:00 o’clock on the same Monday, we’ll be putting the Pride and the Trans flags up in front of City Hall, right there on Ward Street. Myers says there’s a small ceremony with music and anyone who would like to speak is welcome to.

There are many other events planned throughout the week with the parade happening next Sunday, September 2.  Click here for more information.
