Kooteny Lake School District launches new website and logo

The Kootenay Lake School District has a fresh new look and website heading into the new school year. The process began early last spring with consultation from students, parents and staff. Superintendent Christine Perkins says a big aspect was improving communication with parents and the community. “Parents were asking in particular about improved communication, able to push messages forward on mobile phones, you know, they couldn’t find things. So, all of those kinds of pieces were coming up at same time as the Board was taking a look at the strategic plan and part of that is engagement with the community.”

She says the new website should help with those concerns. “If you move to the area you’ll be able to see exactly what the school looks like. It has a search map so you can find out the area that you’re in as far as catchment. We have resources on their now for elementary and secondary school for parents for homework for kids.”

She says they’re still looking for ways to improve and are always open to feedback or suggestions.

The new logo is called Breeze and Perkins says it can represent different things to different people. “Part of the breeze which is so lovely is we all live in the fresh air in Kootenay Lake [sic] and it can be depicted in many ways. So  people see sails in the logo, they see banners, they see wings taking flight. Some people see pages turning.”

Perkins adds it will now better represent all of the communities within the Kootenay Lake School District as well.
