Gas leak on North Shore

There was a gas leak today on the North Shore of Kootenay Lake. It was near the Baylock Mansion just north of where the highway meets Nasookin Road.

FortisBC Corporate Communications Officer Alex Munro provided a recap of the situation earlier today. “Around lunch time we became aware of a hit line. We’re on site now; the gas line has been brought under control and repair works are underway.”

Munro says they’re focusing on restoring service to the 36 impacted customers and will have details on the cause at a later time.

The highway will be down to single lane alternating traffic while repair work happens, which is estimated to be completed between 6:30 and 7:30pm.
