RDCK: election races in 4 areas

Election races will be held on Oct. 20 in three rural areas of the Regional District of Central Kootenay, but eight other directors have been re-elected by acclamation.

In Area B (Rural Creston), incumbent Tanya Wall faces a challenger in Keith Goforth. It’s a four-way race in Area C (Rural Creston) where incumbent Larry Binks faces present Creston town councillor Adam Casemore plus Tony Mulder and Elvin Rempel. It’s a three-way race in Area E (Rural Nelson) where incumbent Ramona Faust faces Reggie Goldsbury and Pat Eggie. And former Area J (Lower Arrow-Columbia) director Gord Zaitsoff will challenge incumbent Rick Smith.

No one opposed Garry Jackman in Area A (East Shore), Aimee Watson in Area D (Rural Kaslo), Tom Newell in Area F (Rural Nelson), Hans Cunningham in Area G (Rural Salmo), Walter Popoff in Area H (Slocan Valley), Andy Davidoff in Area I (Rural Castlegar), Paul Peterson in Area K (Arrow Lakes.)

Area H residents will also vote in a referendum that will ask about providing mosquito control to the Winlaw area at a maximum cost of $74,400 per year?
