Teck Trail Operations is trying to figure out what caused the power shut down at the lead smelter Monday night.
It resulted in a highly visible dark plume of zinc and lead gases for about an hour from the Kivcet and slag fuming furnaces.
Here’s the company’s community relations leader Katherine Adair.
The incident happened around 9 pm and was resolved by 10:30 pm.
Adair says given the short duration there should not be any public health concerns.
