Selkirk College is undertaking an extensive internal and external consultation process and is looking for public input. Their current Strategic Plan is set to expire this year and are developing a new five year plan. College President Angus Graeme says the process was started online last spring where hundreds of comments were collected.
“And just get a feel from the community as to whether we’re on the right track with the feedback we got. What are we missing? What are some of the other things people have in mind that would be good for Selkirk to pursue over the next five years?”
Graeme touches on a few areas where this can apply. “Ideas around new and innovative programs, it could be feedback on ways in which to connect better to the community, so whether that’s using technology or using different delivery methods.”
Five main priorities emerged from the consultation process last spring. Those include experiential learning, career preparation, employee support, program innovation and delivery, and technology and facilities.
Six community meetings will be held starting in Trail on October 3. The other dates include Grand Forks on October 4, Castlegar on October 10, Nelson on the 11, Kaslo on the 15 and Nakusp on the 29. All start at 6:30 at the local Selkirk College.
