Nelson Council Candidate: Robin Cherbo

Nelson City Councillor Robin Cherbo is seeking re-election which would mean his fifth term on council, if elected. It was health care that originally got him interested in being on council when Interior Health was moving ICU services to Trail. With a career in highways, Cherbo says transportation is another important issue for him.

“Trying to get patients back and forth to Trail and that’s been improved a bit with the transit system but there’s still work to do there too.”

He says after the City completes work on Hall Street, Baker Street will need an upgrade at some point, which is a project he wants to be a part of.

“I worked for highways for 34 years and I have some concerns about how the traffic plan is going.”

He says serving his fifth year on council would allow him to follow through on some of the City’s plans including upgrading green energy through Nelson Hydro and an energy program which helps makes homes and businesses more energy efficient.

Cherbo is a long time Nelson resident and attended the now closed Notre Dame University after graduating from high school in Creston.
