It’s your chance to meet Nelson Fire Rescue this weekend. They’re hosting an open house on Saturday, October 13 from noon until 3:00pm.
Fire Chief Len McCharles says its been five years since they hosted an open house and they’re looking forward to re-connecting with the public.
“It’s going to be a fun day. We look forward to having a lot of folks join us and talking and showing some of the things we do, being one-on-one. It should be a really good afternoon.”
Chief McCharles says there’s some helpful information as well.
“Talking a little bit about FireSmart and smoke alarms and just being prepared for an emergency.”
There’s also a free BBQ lunch, kids activities, and a chance to be named “Jr. Fire Chief for the Day.”
Chief McCharles has some safety tips if you can’t make it down. Always make sure your smoke alarm is working at home and if you’re getting the wood-burning fire place going, make sure the flue is clean and working well.
