Boundary expansion more complex than people think: Director

Any mitigation negotiation between Trail and Beaver Valley on the Silver City’s proposed boundary expansion is a lot more complex than many people think.
That’s the message from Area A Director Ali Grieve – who while opposing the proposal  – is still looking for direct face-to-face talks on the contentious matter.
She says a major unknown is the future tax value of the Waneta Dam expansion project which would be part of the move.
Despite Trail’s eagerness to get the deal done, the province needs time to negotiate its issues with Teck and Grieve can’t see any negotiations happening until later in the 1st quarter of 2015.
