Cottonwood Lake fundraiser tops $14,000

A Gofundme campaign to prevent land near Cottonwood Lake from being clearcut has topped $14,000.

The online fundraiser launched three days ago with a goal of $50,000 towards buying the property. So far 125 people have stepped up.

A public meeting last week was told the best hope of preventing the logging is buying the land, and it might be easier for a community group to do it than the regional district which has already been negotiating.

Many are concerned about the impact logging could have on ecology and recreation at the lake, which is a regional park.
