Car thefts reported in Nelson during cold snap

The Nelson Police Department has received complaints recently of three vehicles being stolen in the Nelson area. In these incidents, vehicles have either been left running and unlocked due to the recent cold weather or vehicles have been left unlocked with the vehicle keys inside.

Two of the vehicles have been recovered in the Nelson area and returned to their owners.

The Nelson Police Department is requesting that drivers do not leave keys inside their vehicles, whether they are running or not to avoid becoming a victim of an opportunistic crime that could be easily avoided.
