A Castlegar City Councillor is not pleased they have to cough up the money for RCMP video surveillance equipment.
Kevin Chernoff says he appreciates the work the police do in the community and understands the equipment is needed.
However, he suggests the near $165,000 burden is just downloading from higher levels of government.
Provincial policing standards require that municipalities must ensure that a digital video surveillance and recording system is installed in police buildings.
The City had budgeted almost $230,000 for the project.
