The City of Castlegar is gearing up to expand transit service.
Mayor Lawrence Chernoff says the West Kootenay Transit Service will start running buses on Saturdays from his community to the entire region come January.
With ridership going up, Chernoff says this is the next logical step.
Chernoff says Castlegar will also see a paratransit bus go to the tucked away Grandview Heights Seniors co-op for a two month trial period.
He adds BC transit needs to see if the ridership numbers are there to make it a permanent service.
