Local villages hire Nelson's financial staff

The city of Nelson is helping out some smaller communities with their financial books.

Silverton, Salmo and Slocan will hire the Queen City’s financial staff to do their monthly and annual reporting.

These villages don’t have enough work or the budget to hire full-time accounting staff and it’s getting very difficult to meet provincial regulations.

Here’s Silverton mayor Kathy Provan.

Nelson mayor John Dooley says regional co-operation is a good thing and Nelson will make some added revenue from this …while hoping for wider possibilities into the future.
