We’re into mid-September but the open fire ban remains in place for our South East Fire Centre.
Information Officer Fanny Bernard says we’ve been getting lots of warm, dry days and that’s forecast to continue.
The fire danger rating is “high” in parts of the Boundary,Kaslo and Meadow Creek while it’s rated “moderate” in the rest of the West Kootenay.
While small camp fires are allowed there is still a ban on any burning of waste or slash, grass stubble and the use of fireworks.
