A local teachers union rep is calling the tentative deal with government a “Vince Ready contract” because the mediation sees both sides settling for less than they wanted.
But Andy Davidoff – the President of the Kootenay Columbia Teachers Union- says there are a number of “wins” like the new $400-million Education Fund.
It will go directly to improve class composition whereas the so-called Learning Improvement Fund a few years back did not necessarily do that.
Davidoff says he won’t be recommending how the local membership should vote in Thursday’s ratification ballot but he does not sense a negative mood.
Teachers are learning more about the details of the deal today.
