Ministry wants strike schools savings returned

It leaves a bitter taste.

This from Darrel Ganzert the chair of the Kootenay Columbia School board with news the ministry wants all savings from the strike in September to be paid back.

He says his district could have done with that money.

Even though they have a modest surplus from the strike savings in June they’re left wondering about another year of financial uncertainty.

The ministry allowed districts to keep 20% of the savings from the June job action.

But they want September’s surplus to help off-set the $40 per day child care payments.
