As expected the mayor of Rossland has announced he’s running again …which ensures we have a race there.
Incumbent Greg Granstrom says he’s got a handle on the city’s vital infrastructure and can best represent the city in important talks with regional partners on upcoming expensive sewer needs.
Meanwhile the platform of challenger Kathy Moore – a two-term councillor – is centred on fiscal responsibility and accountability to citizens in light of the scathing report into the arena upgrade controversy.
And she says city hall needs to be more welcoming and less intimidating for citizens to visit.
Granstrom says Rossland needs to move on from the arena controversy – that saw their former building inspector award contracts to his own company.
He says if the voters wish to hold him personally accountable then so be it …but he knows every decision made was done so with the recommendations of council.
