CBT funding an endorsement of Library/Museum project credibility:Trail CAO

It’s a strong signal of support that highlights the credibility of Trail’s plan to build a new library and museum.

That’s the reaction from the Silver City’s CAO David Perehudoff after the Columbia Basin Trust committed $500,000 towards the proposed Riverfront Centre on the old Eagle’s lot.

He says they’ve been talking to the Trust for some time.

The Trust grant means Trail residents will decide at referendum in November if they want the city to borrow about $5.7 million for the facility – which would mean a maximum $76 increase in tax per average household.

That figure could decline further if the library and/or museum are able to secure other grants or fund-raising.
