Former USW President formally enters Trail mayoral race

Former United Steelworkers local 480 President Doug Jones is expected to hand in his nomination papers for the Trail mayoral race today.

Jones is the second person to officially enter the race that includes former Teck Trail General Manager Mike Martin.

Martin has been a regular observer at recent Council meetings. We asked Jones if he saw that as a disadvantage for himself?

Jones says his major platform issue will be trying to mend relationships between Trail and its surrounding communities.

He says the region can accomplish much more together than as individual communities.
