Trail pedestrian sewer bridge works could start early 2015

With a regional pedestrian sewer pipe bridge deal agreed Trail’s rep is already looking forward to construction.

East End Services rep and councillor Robert Cacchioni is applauding the sense of co-operation that ended the often bitter talks with Rossland and Warfield.

The three communities will pay a proportional share of $4.2 million. Trail alone will also pay an extra $5 million.

Cacchioni says a tender for the $9 million structure over the Columbia River could go out next month with work starting in the new year.

Rossland mayor Greg Granstrom says the starting point to negotiations for his community and Warfield had been the $2.7 million crossing cost under the existing Victoria Street bridge but that was always a rough estimate.
