For the second consecutive night residents in the village of Slocan remained on lock down Friday night as RCMP continued their search for Peter DeGroot.
Police have now issued a photo of the 45 year old alleged to have fired on police Thursday afternoon before running off into the forest.
RCMP say he is heavily armed and dangerous. He should not be approached and anyone aware of his whereabouts should call 911. Several weapons were found at his home Thursday night.
A containment zone was established Thursday night in the western more rural part of Slocan and a police spokesman said they believed DeGroot -who is known to them- is in that area. But police have not specifically confirmed if he has been located.
Among the specialist resources deployed is what police call a crisis negotiator. There has been no word if DeGroot has been spotted or contacted.
