Nelson council candidate to "carry torch" of sustainability

A candidate for Nelson city council says with good minds leaving the table next month she wants to carry the torch of sustainability.

Anna Purcell says there’s no reason why the Queen City can’t be one of the most sustainable in Canada – especially given the ownership of Nelson Hydro.


Purcell is the volunteer coordinator at the Civic Theatre.

She hopes to replace one of the four people -all women – who are not running for council again.

We asked if it is important to have that female presence. She said she’s gender blind and non-partisan.
