Krestova park inches closer to reality

People from across the region flocked to Crescent Valley Community Hall to contribute fundsĀ  supporting the creation of Krestova Regional Park.

The fundraiser was held on Oct. 2 with the support of the local fire department, Nelson Ford, Playmor Power Products, Nom Nom, and Pet Valu.

ā€œThe event couldn’t have happened without support from sponsors,ā€ says fundraising committee chair John Bullock. ā€œI would also like to thank the volunteers who came out, as well.ā€

Bullock says the event raised over $26,000, but with much more to tally the final number is undetermined. The fundraising committee is now moving on to stage two, which means the committee is starting to collect money from those who pledged.

ā€œWe are so proud of the community support,ā€ he says. ā€œWe are now asking pledges to be deposited into the Kootenay SavingsĀ  Credit Union account No. 1718790 within the next two weeks to illustrate we now have enough cash to purchase the land.ā€

Bullock says they are expecting more news within the coming weeks because of the overwhelming community support, and he is confident that the news will be one to celebrate.

ā€œPlease be patient,ā€ says Bullock. ā€œIt will take time to process all the transactions, and the RDCK will be providing statements as the information becomes available.ā€

The committee says they are very appreciative of the support from the community to raise funds in such a short time.Ā

The committee needs to raise $870 thousand dollars, and it is unclear as to the state of the proposal.
