Nelson boxers knock out competition in Portland

The Nelson Boxing Club walked away with three victories and one loss for team B.C. at a tournament in Portland, Oregon. 

Wamuna Fukada won his match with a split-decision against opponent Jermaine Carroillo after he used pressure points and angles to secure the win.

Marino Raffo won by unanimous decision against Sacramento’s Santiago Pardo and Riel Martinez won his bout against Marco Perez of Pendleton, Oregon. 

Lola Brouillette lost her round by a close decision against Kalolaine Tuifua of Tacoma.

Fukada, Raffo, Brouillette and Martinez were part of the 30-boxer provincial team that took on more than 300 athletes from B.C, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii.

The club will be holding their next boxing card in Nelson at the Rod and Gun Club, on Oct. 29th.
