Major theft of Nelson campaign signs

An election campaign set-back for one of the three mayoral candidates in Nelson.

Pat Severyn has had about a hundred of his trade-mark moustache signs stolen.

Nelson Police Chief Wayne Holland says the offence has been reported and they’re investigating.


Holland can not say if the signs were targeted because they may seem attractive to someone or if it was some sort of orchestrated effort.

A warning that election sign crime could lead ro a $5,000 fine or two years in prison.

Several election signs had been stolen or damaged before this latest large scale disappearance.
