Lenora Trenaman re-elected as SD8 chair

Lenora Trenaman will continue to serve as chairperson for School District 8 after narrowly winning against Mary Jayne Blackmore in a vote Tuesday by trustees.

Trenaman says she is grateful for the chance to serve her community and is passionate about education.

“I am deeply invested in the district,” says Trenaman. “As well as education and children.”

Trenaman says she feels honored to serve again as chair and she is looking forward to working with all the trustees across the district to provide support for students and educators from kindergarten through to grade 12.

Trenaman has been a trustee for seventeen years and chair for eight years, she will be joined by Dawn Lang who will be serving her first term as vice-chair.

Trenaman, who has represented the north and east shores of Kootenay Lake since 2005, has been chair since 2014. She was elected as chair 5-4 over Mary Jayne Blackmore, who is newly elected to represent rural Creston.
