New Denver emergency room closed today

Due to a nursing shortage, the emergency room at Slocan Community Health Centre in New Denver is closed until 8 a.m. Saturday.

In the meantime, patients are being advised to head to Arrow Lakes Hospital in Nakusp.

Anyone with an emergency should call 911.

Temporary closures have happened several times at the health centre in the past year. The facility used to be open round-the-clock, but since last July, it has been operating from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
