Collision on Highway 3A sends one to hospital in serious condition

One person has been taken to Kelowna General Hospital with serious injuries after two vehicles collided on Highway 3A near Crescent Bay.

According to a media release a black Toyota Rav 4 was traveling northbound Wednesday afternoon when it crossed the center line and collided head on with a white Ford F250.

Nelson RCMP say the driver of the Rav 4, a 60-year-old woman, was transported to hospital with serious injuries and the driver of the F250, a 38-year-old woman, was taken to Kootenay Boundary Hospital in Trail with non-life threatening injuries. 

According to the release, RCMP closed the road for approximately five hours while emergency crews cleared the road. 

Police are still investigating.
