RDCK receives funding for three climate projects

The RDCK has been approved for a grant which will help cover 75 percent of the cost on three projects in the region aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

The grant is part of an agreement with Columbia Basin Trust for a CBT Basin Charge-Up award which includes the supply and installation of a solar array system for the Creston and District Community Complex, purchase of an electric vehicle for the general fleet, and the installation of a workplace EV charger for the Lakeside RDCK office in Nelson.

According to a media release $142,500 was given to the RDCK for the three projects with $75,000 slated for the solar array, $56,250 for the EV unit, and $11,250 being put into the charger in Nelson.

This leaves $52,500 to be covered for all three projects by the RDCK  in the 2023 financial plan and/or covered by the local government climate action program grant fund.
