Evacuation alert issued for Duhamel Creek

Residents of Duhamel Creek are being advised by the RDCK to ensure they have prepared themselves in the event an evacuation is necessary after warm weather, increased rain and snowmelt.

According to a media release residents, or visitors, are not required to evacuate but the district is advising conditions are favorable and they should be prepared to leave if the need arises.

Environment Canada is forecasting a heavy rainfall with the possibility of thunderstorms which could lead to increased water levels around creeks and rivers.

The RDCK is warning everyone to stay away from edges of watercourses and report any erosion, or flooding, to the provincial emergency coordinator.

Residents are asked to make sure they are prepared and can visit the RDCK website on how to prepare in the event of an evacuation.
