RDCK rescinds evacuation alert for parts of Area G

The RDCK has rescinded the evacuation alert for the Village of Salmo as well as the communities of Ymir and Erie.

The area was put on alert yesterday after rising waters threatened to spill over the Salmo river after heavy rain, increased temperatures increased the snow melt.

According to a media release, although the area is no longer under an evacuation alert they are still asking everyone to stay away from the edges of watercourses, and to still remain prepared if an alert is triggered again.

RDCK emergency operations centre director Sangita Sudan says although the alert has been rescinded the village is not out of the woods yet.
