Grade 12 students can travel safe and free across the province

Graduating high school students across the province will get to ride the bus for free for two days of their choice in June.

According to a media release from BC Transit more than 70 communities in B.C. will take part in the program aiming to help students consider all transportation options when planning a safe ride home during graduation time.

To use the GradPASS, students will simply scratch off their two chosen travel days, which do not have to be consecutive. Once they board the bus they just need to show their transit card, along with valid student ID to the driver.

The program was first introduced in Vancouver in 1988, and was adopted by the Victoria regional transit system two years later. The program currently services more than 70 communities across the province and is covered completely by local governments and BC Transit.

GradPASS cards will be handed out to students by participating schools in late May.
