Whitewater offers accommodation for anyone affected by wildfires

Whitewater Ski Resort announced on Monday that they are offering accommodation at the new Hummingbird Lodge and Campground for anyone forced to flee due to wildfire evacuation orders.

The Hummingbird Lodge opened in July. It offers 15 unserviced tenting camp sites and 10 sites for RVs, six of which are fully serviced.

The ski resort made the announcement Monday on their Facebook page and stated that they hope the decision will provide relief for anyone affected by wildfires province wide.

“Our hearts go out to those affected by the wildfires in British Columbia and around the world. With the province of British Columbia announcing a state of emergency last Friday, Whitewater wants to do its part to support those affected. We hope this can help alleviate some stress for just a few of the many people that have been displaced in our province.”

British Columbians displaced by wildfires who want to use Hummingbird Lodge for temporary relief can book online at www.hummingbirdlodge.ca using the promo code ‘Kootenay Support’. Reservations are free with the use of the promo code, however a $4 booking fee is required, as the ski resort cannot remove the fee from their website.
