Affordability a concern for Kootenay-Columbia MP

Kootenay-Columbia MP Rob Morrison says the government needs to do more to curb rising inflation rates and affordability.

Morrison said one way is for the Liberals to stop meddling in businesses.

“When you have a big government that’s what happens. Conservatives have never done that, Conservatives believe in a small government. Let businesses run businesses because the government can’t do it.”

John Brassard, the MP for Barrie-Innisfil, has been touring the area with Morrison and said it’s no shock that prices are going up.

“It’s not like this wasn’t predicted,” he said.

“We predicted this three years ago at the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis and the amount of money that came out.”

He said the Liberals are spending too much money.

“First and foremost we need to get government spending under control. That has a direct correlation, the more money that’s being injected into the system it causes the inflationary issues we’re dealing with right now.”
