The group of doctors behind the proposed new medical clinic opposite the Nelson hospital are happy city council has moved their application on to the next phase.
Dr Andre Kirsten says with second reading passed on a zoning and Official Community Plan change they can now engage with the community on the two-storey site on the corner of View Street.
Kirsten says he’s disappointed with comments made by councillor Donna MacDonald who opposes the project because of what she calls the medical spa component – because it features non essential health care elements.
Kirsten says he would like to enlighten MacDonald on the array of important skin treatments they offer in addition to their general practitioner work.
A public open house is likely in January. A public hearing would come after that before council makes a final decision.
