Membership of the CUPE in Castlegar has bent over backwards and they now have no other option but full strike action.
This from President Leford Lafayette after the union gave 72 hour strike notice Wednesday.
He says they had limited their job action as best they could to prevent inconvenience for the public.
Lafayette was joined by a number of employees at city council’s regular meeting Monday night to ask management to reopen negotiations.
However, council said no and directed them back to the mediator.
The mediator previously recommended the union receive a 6.1% wage increase over the term but employees feel concerns around job security and concessions weren’t addressed.
