City of Nelson reopens Gyro Park

The City of Nelson has a bear-y good update on the status of Gyro Park.
Seven black bears frequenting the area forced its closure in mid-October, but the city has now been given the green light to reopen it to the public.
The announcement was made in a social media post stating that the bears have now left the area for winter denning.
It also says Wildsafe BC and conservation officers were consulted in the decision and deemed it safe to open to the public again.
No update has been provided on the trio of grizzly bears frequenting the city, but residents are encouraged to remain bear-aware.
“Your cooperation has been greatly appreciated in ensuring both our community and our bear neighbours can coexist harmoniously.”
