Interfor has announced a major upgrade to its Castlegar operations.
The company’s Director of Public Affairs Karen Brandt says they’ll spend $50 million making the mill a 2-line operation.
Work will get underway this month towards start-up in early 2016.
Once online the new 2-shift operation will increase total production by around 15%. But Brandt says it’s also about ensuring the mill is competitive and efficient into the future.
The company says there is no intention of any lay-offs as a result of the hi-tech upgrades.
