Water main break on Nelson’s Front Street prompts traffic delays

A water main break has flooded the 1000th block of Nelson’s Front Street.

The City of Nelson stated in a Facebook post that the break will take most of the day to repair, causing traffic delays for the next 10-12 hours.

Flaggers are on site to provide single-lane alternating traffic between Cherry and Cedar Street, but motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes available at Vernon Street, High Street, Morgan Street, Douglas Road, and View Street, if possible.

The city has notified the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure about the break, and that transit buses have been rerouted.
