Grand Forks CAO leaves city in election aftermath

It appears the mayor of Grand Forks isn’t the only political casualty of the local elections.

Chief Administrative Officer Doug Allin has gone.

Outgoing mayor Brian Taylor says Allin had been the subject of many attacks from certain quarters.

The implementation of universal water metering proved very unpopular with many but Taylor says he’ll be missed.

In a carefully worded statement the city says Allin’s departure was mutually agreed between him and council.

Taylor can’t go into details but suggests the outgoing council’s actions in letting Allin go are actually in the best financial interests of the city.

Mayor elect Frank Konrad had campaigned against what he saw as a lack of transparency at City Hall.
