Evacuation Alert issued for Argenta and Johnsons Landing

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has issued a Evacuation Alert for the communities of Argenta and Johnsons Landing in Electoral Area D due to the Argenta Creek wildfire (N71058). 

Located on the east shore of North Kootenay Lake, the Alert includes 191 properties within the two communities. 

Johnsons Landing and Fry Creek have been added to this Evacuation Alert due to concerns over egress on Argenta Road as a result of the fire.

At this time residents or visitors within the area are not required to evacuate, however the RDCK advises people to remain vigilant and be prepared to leave the area at a moment’s notice. 

Agrenta Creek Wildfire 

The Argenta Creek wildfire was first discovered on July 18. It is approximately 735 ha and the suspected cause is a lightning strike.

Regional District Central Kootenay (RDCK) is the primary source of information for evacuation orders and evacuation alerts.
