Nelson arsonist to face additional charges

Nelson man, David Travis, has had additional charges filed against him, following an ongoing investigation into three deliberately set fires that occurred on July 24th, 2024.

As of August 7th, Mr. Travis has been charged with the following offences:
1. Three (3) counts of Arson contrary to Section 434 of Criminal Code of Canada
2. One (1) count of Break, Enter, and Commit contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of Criminal
Code of Canada

Mr. Travis remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court via video conference on Thursday August 8.

In a press release the Nelson Police Department says they remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community, and they will continue to investigate these incidents actively and appreciate the public’s cooperation and support.
