Farmers can apply to buy technologies through provincial program

Starting this week, you can apply for funding to support your farm through a farm technology program.

Called the BC On-Farm Technology Adoption Program, it focuses on improving the province’s agriculture sector by adopting new technologies on-farm. For this year, up to $2 million in funding will be available from provincial and federal governments, according to the BC government.

They say you can use the money to buy new, commercially available technologies that aim to help you grow, raise, harvest, pack, or store food more effectively.

The technologies include automated weeding equipment, harvesters, and automated grading and sorting machines.

The province says this comes as the program’s second round of funding, with the first seeing $2 million given to 54 farms.

Applying for the funding is open as of today and will be available until October 6 this year.
