Crawford Bay Hall project secures provincial and federal funding

The Crawford Bay Hall project has received over $1.4 million in funding from the provincial and federal governments for retrofitting initiatives.

The Crawford Bay & District Hall & Park Association has undertaken work to restore and rejuvenate the 85-year-old Crawford Bay Community Hall. According to its website, the goal of the project aims to transform the hall into a energy efficient, low maintenance, aesthetically pleasing and acoustically ambient venue.

The project has secured $543,271 in funding from the province, in addition to $869,233 from the Government of Canada to support upgrades to the hall’s building envelope, lighting, and entryway, and enhance heat recovery and demand-control ventilation.

“While a small minority in our province continue to question the urgency of climate action, I’m proud that Kootenay communities – big and small – are taking important steps forward,” said Brittny Anderson, MLA for Nelson-Creston.

“By supporting a retrofit of the community hall, our government is helping to work towards a cleaner, more climate-friendly future for Crawford Bay.”
