Local at-risk youth close generation gap

A local initiative for at-risk youth is trying to close the generation gap.

The Take a Hike program enrols 14 students from the region who do weekly community service to organizations and individuals.

On Tuesday the students visited seniors at Castle Wood Village in Castlegar.

Here’s Lead Teacher Gareth Cryer.

Cryer says situations like this give the students a real connection to history.

Take A Hike is in its second year and engages at-risk youth through a unique combination of adventure-based learning, academics, therapy and community involvement.
